Emergency Response Guidelines

Basic Emergency Steps

  1. 1.Check the scene for safety
  2. 2.Call emergency services (911)
  3. 3.Check the victim's condition
  4. 4.Provide care within your training
  5. 5.Stay with the victim until help arrives

Remember the DRS ABCD

  • D - Danger:Check for danger to yourself and others
  • R - Response:Check if the person is responsive
  • S - Send:Send for help (call 911)
  • A - Airway:Check airway is clear
  • B - Breathing:Look, listen and feel for breathing
  • C - CPR:Start CPR if necessary
  • D - Defibrillation:Use AED if available
